Sonnie Beverly’s objective in writing is to provide quality reading for the entire family that addresses everyday life issues from a Christian perspective. For the past decade, Beverly has done just that. Starting with her self-published debut, Real Saved Folks, Sonnie established herself as the “go-to girl” by weaving realistic tales of struggle and triumph with sound biblical teachings. The success of Real Saved Folks sent Beverly on a whirlwind schedule of speaking engagements and book signings, including the 1999 Christian Booksellers Association Annual Convention in Orlando, Florida and a television appearance on Trinity Broadcasting Network’s "Praise The Lord" talk show.
She followed up on the popularity of Real Saved Folks by writing and again self-publishing a follow-up novel, Saved Babies Daddies, under her own Shaunonell Publishing company. She returned to the speaking circuit, landing an engagement as keynote speaker at the American Business Women’s Anniversary Banquet. Additionally, she made her second appearance on "Praise The Lord" on the strength of her second novel.
The success of her first two novels garnered the attention of the Time Warner Book Group. In 2001, she was signed to a book deal for three novels; the re-release of her two self-published works and a third manuscript, Out of the Mouths of Saved Babes. Five years after inking the deal with Warner Books’s Walk Worthy Press imprint, Saved Folk In The House was finally published in 2006. Beverly embarked upon a national book tour to promote her first major publishing release, doing an extensive round of book signings, speaking engagements, and radio and television interviews.
In addition to her novels, Ms. Beverly is also a contributing author in the Women of Color Devotional Bible and Daily Devotional Book, as well as the Women of Color Cookbook.
Beverly has also had an extensive career as an accountant, working for major accounting firms and mega international ministries. The mother of three adult children was the outreach accountant for Creflo Dollar and World Changers Church International and is currently an accountant with Destiny Metropolitan Worship Church in suburban Atlanta.
In the summer of 2011, Beverly will launch the long awaited Saved Folk Seek First Brand with the release of her latest novel, Seek First Incorporated. The logo will be seen on clothing, jewelry, and other paraphernalia promoting the message that to ensure salvation, one must make God top priority in their lives by seeking Him first.
